Forged Freehand Sterling Ring

Forging is one of the greatest techniques out there. I started out with a square piece of wire and a hammer. By tapping the silver with the hammer you can thin it out and elongate it. If you turn the metal and tap, you can create different directions within the silver. By constantly forging and annealing (heating up the silver until it’s cherry red and cooling it down in water) the silver remains workable. If you screw up and wait too long before annealing the silver will tear and break. So it’s not that easy but if you do get the hang of it, it’s simply awesome. This ring, made out of sterling silver, has an open design. So it’s very easy for me to get it up to your size. And a bonus: if you want to see how it was made, check out this tutorial: https://youtu.be/tZJOqbIrAv4
